Our Babymoon

Greg and I celebrated our babmoon with a week long vacation! We visited New York for the first half of the trip and then came back to Florida to spend a few days in Sarasota soaking up the sun. It was absolutely perfect for the two of us and I highly recommend planning your babymoon for the second trimester – where you’ll hopefully have a good amount of energy for travel. Today I’m sharing all of the tidbits from our babymoon, so let’s dive right in.

New York

It’s been three years since we last visited New York, so we were very excited to make a trip back to one of our favorite places. We made sure to monitor covid guidelines and decided to stay around the Chelsea area for most of our trip, that way we could walk or Uber around versus having to take the subway.

We stayed at the Motto by Hilton hotel and it was wonderful! First things first, the lobby and restaurant are stunning, but our hotel room was also perfectly sized and quaint too! We had a nice view of the city and I loved how modern the decor was in the room.

We spent our first day in New York walking around the Flatiron area. We had lunch at Tacombi, a Mexican restaurant, and then we visited the Harry Potter Store. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so I couldn’t wait to visit the store. It was fantastic and they have so many great photo opportunity areas to choose from. Later on that evening, Greg and went to see The Lost City movie at Cineopolis and indulged in delicious pizza from Joe’s Pizza in Chelsea.

Our second day in New York was filled with more exploring. We stopped at Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company in the morning to start our day off with huge bagels and then walked the High Line over to the Vessel and The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards. From there I had to stop into the Magnolia Bakery for a cupcake and then we visited the Chelsea Market at the other end of the High Line to have lunch at Creamline – an American restaurant. Later that evening we had a dinner date at Zia Maria in Chelsea – an adorable Italian restaurant that had amazing fettuccine Alfredo.

Our last day in New York was spent walking up towards Bryant Park and having lunch at a taco joint. We passed the Empire State Building and took a bunch of photos along the way. It was a quick trip, but overall we loved getting a chance to step back into NYC after being away for a few years.

Sarasota

Sarasota has fondly become one of our favorite Florida staycations. It’s only about an hour and a half away from our home, so we can easily visit from time to time. We absolutely adore the Carlisle Inn and stay there almost exclusively each time we visit Sarasota. We visited St. Armands Circle during the few days that we visited. We also ventured over to the Mall at University Town Center to walk and shop. We had to do a couple’s massage during our babymoon as well! I thought I was going to love my prenatal massage, but Olivia kept kicking and moving throughout the whole experience – ouch!

In the past we’ve visited Siesta Key Beach, but this time we stayed a bit closer and ventured to North Lido Beach. I have to say that I may love it even more than Siesta Key. It’s quiet and beautiful! The weather was gorgeous and there was free parking too!

Some of our favorite eats from this trip include Gecko’s Grill for lunch, Ben & Jerry’s for dessert and Circo for delicious tacos at dinner time.

What did you do for your babymoon? I’d love to hear about it in the comments section! 🙂
